Hyperhidrosis

Hyperhidrosis is a clinical condition in which the sufferer perspires excessively, in excess of that required for the maintenance of their body temperature.

It can be a generalised condition, or it can be localised to specific parts of the body. The hands, feet, armpits and the groin are among the most active regions of perspiration due to the relatively high concentration of sweat glands located in these areas; however, any part of the body may be affected.

The following pages look at the causes, presentation and treatments of this long term, often embarrassing condition.
