Botulinum toxin is an extremely poisonous substance which can only be administrated safely in very small doses. As a treatment for hyperhidrosis it is relatively new.

Typically, about a dozen botulinum toxin injections are administered to the most affected areas of the body; such as the armpits, the hands, the feet or the face.

The Botulinum blocks the signals from the brain to the sweat glands, thereby reducing the amount of sweat produced. The procedure typically takes about 30 minutes or so, with results effective for anything upto 6 months or slightly longer, before repeat treatment is needed.
