Onychomycosis or, as it is often referred to, "fungal nail" infection is a very common disorder that affects the fingernails or more commonly the toe nails.

Onychomycosis presents with discoloration of the nail usually yellow in appearance and whilst it is often seen as a cosmetic complication not treating onychomycosis can cause the condition to spread causing the nails to become brittle and crumble.
The infection affects 1 in 2 of the population at the age of 70 meaning the treatment for onychomycosis is becoming ever more important.
